The passenger coach with plate number 51B-17273 driven by Tran Van Nam, aged 41, was heading from Vam Cong Bridge to Vinh Long Province when it plowed into a group of 10 bike riders and killed a rider, identified as Tran Van An, aged 59. Three dead as long-haul bus collides with cyclists in southern Vietnam
Three people died on Monday in a crash where a long-haul bus slammed into a group of cyclists in southern Vietnam. Two of the dead were the bus passengers, said police in Dong Thap Province, where the accident happened. The crash occurred in Lai Vung District at 5:00 am on Monday, when the bus crashed into ten cyclists before veering onto the other side of the road, according to a police report. The bus continued to slam into two utility poles and a tree along the road before coming to a complete halt. Tran Van An, a 69-year-old cyclist, died on the spot. Two of the three bus passengers, 38-year-old Nguyen Ngoc Son and 46-year-old Nguyen Huu Ly, were also killed in the crash. Vietnam logs no new COVID-19 infections on March 1 morning Vietnam documented zero COVID-19 infections in the past 12 hours as of 6:00 am on March 1, leaving the national tally unchanged at 2,448 patients, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control. Earlier, Vietnam reported 16 COVID-19 cases at 6pm on February 28, including 12 locally infected cases in the northern province of Hai Duong, the country's largest COVID-19 hotspot, and four imported cases in the southern provinces of Tay Ninh and Dong Thap. Of the total infections, there were 1,542 domestically-transmitted cases, including 849 recorded since the latest outbreak hit the northern province of Hai Duong on January 27.
