AI helps promote Vietnamese tourism and culture

The Saigon Innovation Hub (SIHUB) in Ho Chi Minh City and the Echoing Drum Company have partnered to launch the Echoing Drum Show – The Art of Hat Boi. This is one among many tourism startup projects sponsored and incubated by SIHUB, aiming to promote innovation in tourism products and popularise Vietnamese culture to visitors in a creative manner. Huynh Kim Tuoc, SIHUB Executive Director, said that Cheo and Boi (Tuong) singing are the two oldest performing arts of Vietnamese theatre. In particular, the Southern region has made many imprints in the development of Boi singing art. In addition to introducing Vietnamese folklore to international friends, the project also aims to use AI in tourism to help visitors enjoy and understand Boi singing, Tuoc added. ‘Ao dai’ week 2021 opens in HCM City

(Photo courtesy of the organiser) HCM City (VNS/VNA) - A series of cultural activities within the  “ Ao Dai Week 2021 ” are being organised this weekend in Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate International Women's Day ( March 8 ). A special exhibition of two collections of ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) by renowned designers will open at the Ao dai Museum in Long Thuan Garden in district 9 on March 7. It includes ao dai owned by outstanding women working in politics, culture and arts, such as Dr Trinh Thi Hoa, former director of the HCM City History Museum, and veteran soldier Dang Hong Nhut, who have encouraged young women to study and develop their careers as well as live more independently. Book chronicling 70 years of Vietnam-Russia ties launched

Authored by Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh, the book is divided in five chapters providing a brief introduction to Vietnam and Russia; President Ho Chi Minh, who laid the foundation for the establishment of the bilateral ties; the relations between Vietnam and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) in the 1950-1990 period; the Vietnam – Russia ties during the 1991-2011 period; and from 2011 until now. The publication features more than 700 photos and documents on the bilateral cooperation across the vast fields of politics, economics, defence-security, culture, education, science-technology, and people-to-people diplomacy. The book also quotes opinions and memories of leaders, researchers, and historical witnesses from the two countries. Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day marked nationwide

The three-day event features a wide range of activities, including a competition themed “Flows of Da Nang’s cultural heritages”, a rhetoric contest “Pride of Da Nang’s cultural heritages”, a photo exhibition entitled “Ancient scooters - once legendary” and a “Scooter on roads” exchange event. Joint efforts to preserve Cham culture

Thien Thanh Vu (1990), who is one of four Cham artisans working for the art troupe in the Department, has played many kinds of traditional musical instruments of Cham ethnic group. Vu was born into a family with three generations of crafting and playing Cham musical instruments, in Ninh Phuoc District, Ninh Thuan Province. Since he was just 12 years old, Vu has studied the methods to craft and play traditional instruments. Now he can fluently plays many kinds of instruments, such as paranung drum, saranai flute and kanhi lute. In particular, saranai flute, an indispensable instrument for performances. It used to be made of buffalo horn or elephant bone and ivory. However, Cham ethnic people now make the flute from the duramen of an old taramind trees. The structure of a saranai flute symbolises a human body with three parts: head, body and leg. The seven notes on the flute are like seven parts in a face.
