Vietnam seeks to attract relocated investment in wake of coronavirus

The head of government also asked localities in key economic regions to strive to become magnets for major foreign corporations and receive re-directed regional and global flows of investment so as to translate the challenges presented by the coronavirus into opportunities. According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, foreign firms in the fields of IT and high technology, electronics and e-commerce, consumer goods and retail sales and logistics are seeking to relocate their investments. Multinational companies are speeding up the process of diversifying their investment destinations, relocating their manufacturing bases, expanding their business and implementing new projects, and Vietnam has been earmarked as a safe potential destination for such a shift. The latest version of the ‘Manulife Asia Care Survey’ takes a closer look into customers’ concerns, priorities and aspirations, polling 4,000 people across the region who either own insurance or intend to buy it in the next six months, including around 520 in Việt Nam. ‘Hello Ho Chi Minh City’ communication campaign launched

The campaign will take place from October 2020 to the end of January 2021 and is aiming to promote images of Ho Chi Minh City and encourage every Vietnamese person to travel within Vietnam and every citizen of Ho Chi Minh City to discover the beauty of where they live. The campaign has been divided into two main phases. The first phase will focus on introducing the image of Ho Chi Minh City - a safe, lively and friendly city. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism HAS also implemented many activities such as organising an Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) Festival, and signing a cooperation agreement on safe,attractive tourism between Ho Chi Minh City and provinces in the Southeast region as well as Binh Thuan province. Vietnam urges countries to actively contribute to maintaining peace, stability in East Sea

The spokesperson made the remark when replying to several questions from reporters on developments in the East Sea at a regular press conference of the Foreign Ministry held virtually. Commenting on the announcement of French Defence Minister Florence Parly that the country has deployed the SNA Emeraude submarine on a patrol in the East Sea, Hang said maintaining peace, stability, order, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation, the rule of law, and respect for countries’ sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction in the East Sea in accordance with the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982) is the goal, the interest, the responsibility and the wish shared by all countries and the international community.
