Small investors oppose expanding trading lot Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE)’s proposal to raise the minimum trading lot to 1,000 shares is receiving mixed opinions from market experts and investors. The proposal was initiated by newly-appointed General Director of HOSE Le Hai Tra as a solution to reduce system overloads which have troubled traders recently. A 1,000 minimum trading lot will limit the participation of small investors, while the stock market is moving towards fairness and equality, said a budding investor. “My friends and I, when joining the stock market, only have a few tens to several hundreds of millions of dong, raising the minimum trading lot to 1,000 shares will directly affect our investment capacity,” said individual investor Diep. “With expensive stocks, we may have to spend hundreds of millions of dong to buy the minimum 1,000 shares,” she said. Vietnam’s two major e-commerce platforms Tiki and Sendo are reportedly holding exploratory talks to merge with each other, according to Deal Street Asia. As of present, both Tiki and Sendo have not commented on this issue. Vietnam’s e-commerce retailer Sendo bags US$61 million in series C funding
The Hanoitimes - Sendo, along with homegrown marketplace Tiki, is competing with regional players like Lazada and Shopee for shares in Vietnam’s e-commerce market. Vietnamese e-commerce retailer Sendo has secured US$61 million in a series C round – its largest raise to date, Tech in Asia reported. According to a statement, the round saw participation from existing backers such as SBI Group, Beenos, SoftBank Ventures Asia, Daiwa PI Partners, and Digital Garage, along with new investors including EV Growth and Thailand’s Kasikornbank. The company plans to use the fresh funds to expand its integrated platform offering for both sellers and consumers and invest in AI and machine learning to enhance customer experience, said Sendo CEO and co-founder Tran Hai Linh.
