The Dao are a major ethnic group with a population of 891,151 according to the 2019 census. They consist of several sub-groups and live mostly in the northern region. They have a diverse and rich culture and speak a number of different languages. Lensman Nguyen Son Tung, also known as Tung "Dao" for his particular interest in the ethnic group, recently shot pictures of their traditional costumes. A student from An Giang Province in southern Vietnam was found in a critical condition after two thieves who tried to snatch his dog fired an arrow at his neck. Senior Lieutenant Colonel Le Van Dau, chief of police of Cho Moi District in An Giang, said on Tuesday that his force was working with authorities in bordering Dong Thap Province to search for the thief ring involved in the case, which took place in Long Dien B Commune of the locality. “This group is responsible for several dog thievery instances in the last few days," he said. "We are trying to find the group and put them through due process. “However, as the Cho Moi District adjoins Dong Thap Province, the search area is rather large, which has made the searching more time-consuming.” Earlier, the victim P.Q.D., 19, from Dong Thap's Long Dien B, found two thieves trying to steal a dog from his family. National costumes unveiled ahead of Miss Grand International Vietnam
Ngoc Thao, Vietnam's representative at Miss Grand International 2020, has released outlines of the outfits she will wear during the upcoming national costume segment of the beauty pageant which will take place in Thailand. The two outfits Ngoc Thao will wear have been made by designer Tin Thai. The first is a bodysuit which features an impressive and modern style. The outfit will be meticulously crafted and will have hundreds of pieces of mirror attached to it to create a unique and eye-catching light reflection. The highlight of the outfit are the two sleeves which have been designed to resemble a bonsai tree. The second costume is heavily influence by the royal culture in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue. The gown and headdress are in the style of the Nguyen dynasty. Project encourages youths to replicate royal costumes
The project, called Det Nen Trieu Dai (Sewing the Reigns), which makes traditional costumes worn in the later Le Dynasty (1437 to 1471), was created to help Vietnamese students at home and abroad learn more about the country’s history and culture. Vietnamese clothes at the showcase of the coronation of the Queen Mother under the later Le Dynasty (1437-1471) The project is not about clothes or hats, said Le Ngoc Linh, co-founder of the center, adding that it’s about culture. Through the work, the center hopes to introduce Vietnam, its history and culture to the world. Linh and her staff have researched many Vietnamese and Asian documentaries, books, paintings and sculptures.
