Zuo Lei took money from the bag of a Vietnamese passenger sitting in front of him on the flight from Da Nang to Hanoi, police said Wednesday. About 20 minutes after takeoff Thursday last week, some passengers spotted the Chinese man acting suspiciously. He changed seats and opened a bag from the overhead compartment before rummaging through it. They immediately alerted the flight attendants who asked passengers sitting close to the man to check their luggage. One of them, whose identity has not been revealed, claimed that he had lost VND10 million ($431) from his bag. Chinese man dies in Vietnam road crash

Photo courtesy of Binh Duong Police A Chinese man was killed in a traffic accident Saturday night in the southern province of Binh Duong. The man, whose identity has not been revealed, was said to be in his 40s. He was driving on National Highway 13 from Binh Duong to neighboring Binh Phuoc Province when a tanker moving in the same direction hit his motorbike. The accident took place at 10:30 p.m. in Ben Cat Town, a drive of an hour and a half southwest of Ho Chi Minh City, local media reported. The Chinese man was run over by the tanker and died on the spot. Police are investigating the accident. Road crashes are a leading cause of deaths in Vietnam, killing almost one person every hour. Chinese national Cai Guo Lin, 37, and three Vietnamese women identified as Hoang Thi Thu Trang, 27, Trieu Thi Hang, 41, and Nguyen Thi Mai Anh, 24, have been placed under criminal investigation for "organizing surrogacy for commercial purposes." Initial investigations show that the Chinese man came to Hanoi in September last year and asked Trang to be his interpreter. Lin agreed to pay Trang VND5 million ($215) for each case. Bai Xin Xing, 32, works as a guide for tourists from China in the central city of Da Nang. On July 27, this year, he was with a group of Chinese tourists returning to China’s Xi'an City from the Da Nang International Airport. Before the flight took off, the group shopped at a duty free store inside the airport. Xing then stole a bottle of perfume worth VND23 million ($987). A store employee spotted the theft and called for help in apprehending him. Airport security staff checked his bag and found the stolen product. Unlicensed Chinese travel company exposed in south-central Vietnam
Vietnamese police found a group of seven foreigners managing an unlicensed international tourist firm last week after multiple days of keeping a watch on them. The seven foreigners are Chinese, operating an illegal company in a rented building on Tran Quang Khai Street, in Nha Trang, the capital city of Khanh Hoa Province, authorities said. The organization was headed by Zen Da Long, who failed to present legal documents for his business in Vietnam at the time police officers performed the house check on January 25. The Chinese man said that he gathered several other fellows to establish a shadowy travel company. He contacted his partners in China in order to arrange trips between his country of origin and Nha Trang for a long time without permission from Vietnamese authorities.
