Source: Glassdoor After announcing to withdraw from the smartphone business, LG Electronics is closing down production plants in Haiphong (Vietnam), Taubate (Brazil), and Qingdao (China) after failing to effect a breakthrough, according to Business Korea . Of these, the Haiphong plant, which is the largest among LG Electronics' smartphone plants with an annual capacity of about 10 million smartphones, equaling about half of LG's total smartphone output, has been announced to find a buyer at the selling price of KRW100 billion ($90 million). Realising the difficulties of finding a local buyer, which is going to manufacture almost 10 million smartphones per year, LG Electronics is considering selling the plant site only, without the production lines. Quang Binh caves get surreally real under photographic light
Early last month, HCMC-based Trung joined a group on a two-day tour to explore the two caves that are part of the cave system in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park. The group took a car from the center of Son Trach C ommune to the 28 km milestone on the Ho Chi Minh West road, then trekked through the Phong Nha - Ke Bang forest. The first destination in the journey, Nuoc Nut C ave, impressed Trung with stalagmites dripping down from the ceiling and growing from the cave floor. Inside the cave are sandbanks and stalactites of different shapes. While the cave was first discovered in 2003, an entrance to go in was only found in 2012. Cave experts have said that based on geological survey results, Nuoc Nut Cave is up to 2.2 km long and about two million years old. COVID-19: Nine imported cases recorded, recoveries reach 2,445
Among the new cases, there are five imported cases from India, Ukraina, Moldova, Uzbekistan, and Germany, and the remaining four Vietnamese returnees. All of them were put into isolation upon entry to undergo treatment at local hospitals. Following the latest discovery, the overall number of positive coronavirus cases rose to 2,705 nationwide, including 1,570 local infections and, 1,135 imported cases. Meanwhile, more than 36,930 people are being quarantined for medical surveillance, while 50 cases have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus at least one. The ministry reported that a further 6,005 people were given COVID-19 vaccinations from April 5-11, boosting the total number of vaccinated people to 58,418. Elsewhere, the northern province of Yen Bai has received 4,500 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine for COVID-19 prevention and control from the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.
