Cambodia adopts law on COVID-19 preventive measures

The draft law on measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other deadly and serious infectious diseases, which consists of six chapters and 18 articles, was approved on February 28 during a Cabinet Meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hun Sen. Earlier, the country’s Health Ministry created a task force, headed by Army Commander Lieutenant General Hun Manet, to manage security and public order at quarantine centres. Meanwhile, Laos’ National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control is requiring all foreign citizens entering Laos to purchase COVID-19 insurance, in addition to other travel documents and requests for permission to enter the country. Non-Lao citizens wishing to enter Laos must contact their embassy concerning COVID-19 insurance, which will cover the cost of any medication prescribed in the event that the policyholder contracts the virus, as well as wearing a health tracking device. Vietnam tightens control over illegal immigration

The Hanoitimes - One third of provinces bordering with Cambodia have tightened entry procedures on people coming from this country. Vietnam has toughened up control over unlawful immigration in the region bordering with Cambodia after people returning from the neighboring country found infected with Covid-19. How to get to Vietnam?

The most common way for international tourists to get to Vietnam is by plane. The country currently has 22 conveniently-located airports, 11 of which offer international services. The three main gateways are Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang International Airport in Da Nang — located in northern, southern, and central Vietnam, respectively. 13 caught creeping into Vietnam from China

Border guards in the northern province of Cao Bang have caught 13 Vietnamese citizens attempting to enter the country illegally via the Vietnam-China border to dodge compulsory quarantine for COVID-19 prevention and control. The border jumpers were detected in the border area in Thong Nhat Commune, Ha Lang District early Sunday morning, the provincial border guard officers confirmed. They were escorted to the Quang Long border guard station for verification. The border jumpers said they hail from multiple Vietnamese provinces, namely Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa, Dak Nong, Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, and Tra Vinh. They had entered China against the law to work since 2017. Oxfam: Health spending in poor countries must double to prevent millions of deaths

Photo: Wael Algadi Oxfam today called for a package of nearly $160 billion in immediate debt cancellation and aid to fund a Global Public Health Plan and Emergency Response and help prevent millions of deaths as a result of the coronavirus.The five-point plan of this Global Public Health Plan and Emergency Response would enable poor countries to take action to prevent the spread of the disease and build up the capacity of health systems to care for those affected.
