During his trip, President Moon had meetings with Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen. Vietnam welcomes over 1.5 million foreign visitors in January

The number of foreign holidaymakers rose 9.3 percent against December, with a strong surge seen the flow of tourists from Europe, America and Oceania as overseas Vietnamese have come home for the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) while in some European and American countries, people have higher demand for travelling abroad during their winter holidays. In the month, visitors from Asian markets accounted for the lion’s share with over 1.1 million people, a 5.4 percent climb from the same period of 2018. Vietnamese travelers willing to spend big on overseas tours
People in Vietnam are becoming more inclined to take overseas vacations as they are willing to empty their pockets on costly tours as well as expensive services during their trips to foreign countries. To many domestic and foreign tour operators, Vietnam has emerged as a lucrative tourism market given that an increasing number of locals do not hesitate to spend big on overseas journeys. According to Tran Doan The Duy, deputy general director of Ho Chi Minh City-based tour operator Vietravel, the company has had to introduce new trips and destinations on a regular basis to meet local demand. The number of tourists embarking on Vietravel’s trips to Taiwan in 2017 rose by an astonishing 170 percent compared to the previous year, Duy said, adding the travelers to Japan and South Korea also increased by 30 percent. Travel firms want to go big on caravan tours
By Tuong Vi - The Saigon Times Daily HCMC – More local travel agencies are working on plans to develop caravan services in the ASEAN region, according to a latest report by the HCMC tourism authority.For the first time, Huong Giang Travel has organized caravan tours to Thailand, which will depart from Hue next month. The first journey will start on the anniversary of Hung King’s Death on April 12. Guests will pass by Laos before going to Thailand. The price for the package tour is US$364 per person for six days if tourists have their own cars. In January, Vung Tau-based VTTours announced its first caravan tours to Madagui in Lam Dong Province for three days with the price at almost VND2 million per person. VTTours director Tran Van Dung said this year his company would push caravan tours to places across the country and in Southeast Asia to satisfy the needs of tourists who own cars and have an adventurous spirit.
