Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Health said it would add three new types of vaccines for infants under the national expanded immunisation programme this year. ComBe Five, an India-produced vaccine, will replace the Korean-made Quinvaxem to prevent five common, potentially fatal diseases—diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis B and haemophilus influenza type B — in infants. Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Đặng Đức Anh, director of the ministry’s Institute of Hygiene Epidemiology, said vaccine producer Berna Boitech Korea Corporation had stopped the manufacture of Quinvaxem vaccine. The remaining stock of the vaccine was expected to be used completely by the end of May. Nguyen Phuong Lam, deputy director of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI)’s branch in Can Tho City, stressed at the conference on promoting investment to expand the food value chain that the delta has much room for food processors. Vietnam credit growth hits 13.5% in first 10 months
Medium- and long-term loans accounted for 53.7% of the total lending, sliding from 55.1% at the end of 2016, while short-term loans made up the remaining 46.3%, compared to 44.9% of 10 months earlier.Notably, lending in foreign currency picked up 11.5% in the 10-month period, higher than a rise of 4.4% in the same period last year, due to increasing import demands.According to the report, lending for real estate has now dropped to 15.5% of total outstanding loans, from 17.1% in 2016. Meanwhile, consumer lending soared 58.6% between January and October, in line with the upward trend of consumption in the economy, the report said.During the 10-month period, capital mobilisation grew by an estimated 12% from 2016-end, lower than a 14.7% expansion in the same period last year.It noted that bank liquidity remained stable at low levels in October, evidenced by inter-bank interest rates sliding 20 basis points from the previous month. The Vietnamese leader made the statement while attending the plenary session on food security, which was held in Davos , Switzerland , on January 29 as part of the World Economic Forum 2010. South Korea’s Daesang bids to buy Vietnam food processor for $33 mln
News that Daesang Cooperation intends to expand its operations in Vietnam by buying a Vietnamese food processor appeared in South Korean press at the end of June. Reuters quoted Daesang as saying that it will buy a 99.99 percent stake (13 million shares) in Duc Viet Food Joint Stock Company for 37.52 billion won ($33 million) by August 5. Talking with VnExpress, a representative from the Vietnamese company claimed that they are in negotiations and have yet to reach a final decision. Duc Viet Food is one of Vietnam’s leading food processing firms. A report from Deasang said that last year, Duc Viet had total assets of 16 billion won ($14 million) and liabilities of 7 billion won ($6 million). Singaporean firm to buy stake in local food processor
According to the company's chairman, Duong Ngoc Minh, the shares will be sold to a Singapore supermarket operator. "We aim to expand business into the Singapore market, we are not short of money," Minh said. HungVuong plans to divide the issuance into two phases. The first isexpected to be deployed prior to June 30 next year, with a maximumvolume of 20 million shares, while the second phase, with up to 10million shares, will be transferred before December 31, 2014. The price of the share sale will be negotiated, but will not be less than 28,000 VND (1.3 USD) per share. Inaddition, company officials will soon travel to the US to sign amemorandum to sell products in 16 markets in the country. Experts claim “no proof” of ‘5 in 1′ vaccine link to baby deaths
HA NOI (VNS)– Health officials claimed yesterday that there was no concrete evidence to link the recent deaths of five newly-born babies with the "5 in 1" vaccine they had just received. Speaking at a meeting in Ha Noi the Ministry of Health's consultative committee announced that there was no proof of a connection between the deaths and the administration of the Quinvaxem "5 in 1" vaccine, as well as the preservation and transport process. The conference was held in the wake of the infant fatalities – who were all aged 2-3 months - in central Binh Dinh Province, southern Kien Giang Province and Ha Noi. According to the Preventive Medicine Department, the frequency of adverse reactions after use of the Quinvaxem "5 in 1" vaccine during late 2012 and early 2013 was higher than other vaccines.
