Long and difficult path to schools in mainland to go plus ferry closure in rainy days are culprits of high rate of dropouts in Can Gio for years. For the academic year 2016-2017, branch of Can Thanh Senior High School was opened in the Can Thanh Junior High School premises in Thanh An Island commune; however, 28 tenth graders still had to go to mainland schools for some extra-activities; therefore, many students unfinished their pursuit of studying because of its poor facilities and shortage of teachers. Phu Quoc island (Photo: VNA) Kien Giang (VNA) - A oyster breeding project in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang which is part of larger effort to preserve and regenerate natural aquatic resources on Phu Quoc island has seen positive results, according to the Phu Quoc Reserve Management Board. The project, which was approved by the provincial People’s Committee in 2016 and will last for 20 years, is being implemented on Hon Vang island in Phu Quoc district’s Hon Thom commune by the Phu Quoc Reserve and private enterprise Ngoc Hien Pearl. In the project’s first phase from 2016 to this year, more than 2.4 million gold-lipped oysters were released into a pilot breeding area in Hon Vang. The oysters have adapted well to the breeding environment and have grown rapidly. The breeding of gold-lipped oysters has helped regenerate natural aquatic species and diversify the ecosystem. PetroVietnam signs deals on Sao Vang-Dai Nguyet gas field exploitation A series of trade agreements on exploiting the Sao Vang-Dai Nguyet gas field was inked between the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and its partners in Hanoi on July 31. The agreements included a gas sales and purchase and a gas supply agreement. The stakeholder participation in the Petroleum Sharing Contract includes the operator Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd with 43.08 percent; Teikoku Oil (Con Son) Co Ltd, 36.92 percent; and PetroVietnam, 20 percent. Speaking at the signing ceremony, PVN General Director Nguyen Vu Truong Son said the signing of trade agreements achieved after over two years of negotiations among sides involved. (VEN) - The Binh Dinh Province Department of Industry and Trade has drafted and submitted to the relevant authority for approval of a three-year, VND148-billion national project for promotion of seafood production and processing enterprises. The industry promotion program is expected to provide comprehensive assistance, including technology, workspaces, and product preservation and introduction services. Binh Dinh is well suited for seafood production and processing. It is home to big lagoons, including the 1,200-1,400ha Tra O lagoon, 5,060ha Thi Nai lagoon, 1,600ha De Gi lagoon, in addition to lakes and the 300ha Tam Quan River estuary, which are all ideal for aquaculture. With a coastline of over 134km, water territories of 2,500 square kilometers and an exclusive economic zone of 40,000sq.km, Binh Dinh has the potential to develop seaweed culture and lobster, sea fish, pearl and oyster farming activities. Poultry breeding heats up again General manager CP Vietnam Montri Suwanposri said that Vietnam’s poultry prices are closer with prices of other countries; accordingly, CP Vietnam will sell chicken to Japan after finishing paper works as per the partners’ requirement. Montri Suwanposri added that C.P in Thailand is the leading firm exporting chicken meat to Japan for years with the quantity of five million a week. There has been an increase in poutry meat orders lately because many countries banned import chicken from Brazil , an exporter of chicken to Japan, after food safety scandal. These countries switched to import chicken meat from Asian countries especially Thailand. At present, prices of poultry in hi-tech farms in Vietnam is similar to chicken prices in other Asian countries, accordingly, C.P Thailand will share its orders with Vietnamese firms and C.P Vietnam has planned to sell chicken meat to Japan in 2019.
