OSSO Can Tho is part of the project “Strengthening Vietnamese capacity for sustainable reintegration of returning women migrants and their households in Vietnam” implemented by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in cooperation with the Women’s Union of Vietnam. Vietnam Airlines attendant prosecuted for spreading Covid-19
The Hanoitimes - The Vietnam Airlines attendant breached Covid-19 regulations when making contacts with others while undergoing self-isolation at home. The Ho Chi Minh City police launched on March 2 criminal proceedings against Duong Tan Hau, a Vietnam Airlines attendant, for spreading Covid-19 to others, under Article 240 of the 2015 Criminal Code. Ho Chi Minh City police said that the People’s Procuracy of Ho Chi Minh City had received an investigation conclusion and other documents linked to a case of “spreading contagious disease to others” involving the 28-year-old flight attendant, who is Covid-19 Patient 1,342 in Vietnam. Hau breached regulations when making contacts with others while undergoing self-isolation at home. Such act triggered a community outbreak of the novel coronavirus, according to police. A heat wave is likely to descend on HCMC for four days starting tomorrow, March 4 – PHOTO: VNA HCMC – The southern weather center said that a heat wave is likely to descend on HCMC for four days starting tomorrow, March 4, with temperatures in the southern city expected to reach a maximum 34-35 degrees Celsius. The heat wave will go on from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. everyday, the center added. Further, the scorching heat is forecast to spread to some southeastern provinces including Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong and Dong Nai, kicking off high temperatures at 35 degrees Celsius or even higher. Foreign ship arrivals down 6 percent in first two months Vietnam’s sea ports have berthed some 4,900 foreign vessels over the last two months, a decline of 6 percent year-on-year, according to the Vietnam Marine Administration. The fall was due largely to the impact of COVID-19, which is resulting in major fluctuations in the transport sector, a representative of the administration said. Despite the lower number of foreign ships, the volume of import and export goods through ports grew. In January and February, 35.3 million tonnes of imports and 26 million tonnes of exports were handled at ports nationwide. The former represented an annual increase of 14 percent while the latter was as same as that last year. In particular, nearly 1.3 million TEUs for exports and 1.2 million for imports were handled during the period, up 32 and 16 percent, respectively, year-on-year; the highest growth since the pandemic began.
