The deals were inked during the Indonesia-China Business Forum and China Coal Import Summit, Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun said in Beijing on November 19, Antara News reported. Coal imports dominated the contracts inked on the sidelines of the second China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai. Since issuing corporate bonds has become easy thanks to open regulations, it is necessary to tighten control over bond issuance. According to Saigon Securities Incorporated (SSI), VND129.016 trillion worth of corporate bonds were offered to sell in the first eight months of the year and 90.08 percent was sold. VND22.664 trillion, or 61 percent of bonds, were sold to domestic investors. However, it’s unclear who the ‘domestic investors’ are. Meanwhile, bonds cannot sell to individual investors who don’t have deep knowledge about the market. The analysts blamed the hot corporate bond market on the easy requirements stipulated in Decree 163. Shipments to the US were worth US$223.7 million, while the other major buyers were the Netherlands (US$75.9 million) and the Republic of Korea (US$$75.3 million). Exports to many markets, including India, Hong Kong, Turkey, China, Ukraine, Russia, and Bangladesh, are rising. Shipments to India rose by over 159.4% to US$17.6 million. Exports to Hong Kong were up 158.8% to US$29 million. But exports to certain markets such as the Philippines (down by 31.3%), Laos (26.3%) and UAE (26.2%) declined. According to the Vietnam Plastics Association, the industry is one of those to achieve steady growth of 14%-15% a year with its export growing by 12%-14% annually.
