Vietnam’s traditional crafts promoted as national image

Bat Trang village’s ceramic products Vietnam has some 5,400 craft villages, spanning many different crafts, such as lacquer, ceramics, gold, silver, embroidery, bamboo, rattan, weaving, paper, folk paintings, wood, and stone. Their handicraft products are diverse in design and quality. Van Phuc silk, Bat Trang pottery, and Dong Xam silver carving have been recognized as national brands. Dam Tien Thang, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, said that despite their economic value, the potential of traditional craft villages hasn’t been fully tapped. He said “Hanoi craft villages’ annual production is estimated to be nearly 1 billion USD and annual export turnover is approximately 200 million USD a year. SEA Games 30: Vietnam advance to football final

Striker Duc Chinh scores a hattrick in the match against Cambodia to help Vietnam advance to the final (Source:VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam advanced to the final of the men’s football at the ongoing 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 30) in the Philippines, after beating Cambodian rivals 4-0 in the semi-final match on December 7. Starting the match, Vietnam’s head coach Park Hang-seo surprised many by fielding two forwards, Tien Linh and Duc Chinh, for the first time since the start of the Games. On the other side, Cambodia’s head coach Flex Damas proved that the team did not enter the semi-final match with sheer luck as the players started it with successive attacks that caused quite a few difficulties to Vietnam. Vietnam retains third place on SEA Games 30 medal tally

Swimmer Anh Vien bags two more gold medals for Vietnam on December 7 (Source: VNA)   Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam secured an additional eight gold, seven silver and ten bronze medals on December 7 – the seventh competition day of the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 30) in the Philippines, retaining its third place on the medal tally. Nguyen Thi Anh Vien won both the women's 400m freestyle and 100m backstroke events, defending her titles comfortably. The 23-year-old clocked 4min 13.20sec in the 400m freestyle. Gan Ching Hwee of Singapore and Natthanan Junkrajang from Thailand were second and third, respectively. In the latter race, Vien finished with a time of 1:02.97. Chloe Kennedy Anne Isleta and Jasmine Alkhaldi, both of the hosts, were the runners-up. Vien who is expected to win eight titles in this Games will take part in the 400m individual medley. She is the defending champion. Vietnam making progress in improving competitiveness

Vietnam shares experience in building peacekeeping partnerships

Vietnam, the co-organizer of the event, is considered one of the countries with strong performance in building efficient partnership in UN peacekeeping operations in South Sudan. Quy said that Vietnam started sending personnel to UN peacekeeping missions in 2014.
