Da Nang opens new post-Covid window for manufacturers
Improving product quality The Nguyen Van Toan household business in the Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village at the foot of Da Nang’s famous Marble Mountain was one typical recipient of the industry promotion program. In the past, it used a semi-automatic turning lathe, which could only turn out 3-4 stone products a day, most of them fragile and inaccurate. With funding from the industry promotion program, the establishment invested in automatic lathes worth nearly VND800 million, including VND140 million from the local industry promotion budget. The automatic lathe can turn out eight products simultaneously, enhancing productivity by 10-20 times, guaranteeing proportional accuracy, ensuring aesthetics, reducing production time and thus increasing customer satisfaction significantly, Toan explained. According to Huynh Ngoc Trung, Director of the Bich Hanh Technology Joint Stock Company, the company received funding from the national industry promotion program three times for a total … [Read more...] about Da Nang opens new post-Covid window for manufacturers
Brewing up change with modern strategy
During the most difficult period of 2020 that was plagued by COVID-19 and tough new local drink-driving rules, Neo Gim Siong Bennett, who is the general director of SABECO, kept the faith in its strategy. “This storm will soon pass, and the sun will be out again,” he said. “In the meantime, we will focus on weathering through this storm, and be fully prepared to make hay when the sun shines again.” The spirit of being willing to accept tough trials is rooted in the company’s transformation strategy that started sharply three years ago after Thai Beverage acquired a majority stake when the state-owned brewer was sold off. Two-century-old communal house in Can Tho
Binh Thuy communal house or Long Tuyen temple was originally constructed from wood and leaves. With two restorations, the latest in 1909, it is one of the most aged communal houses in Vietnam's southern region. Binh Thuy covers an area of more than 4,000 square meters in Binh Thuy Ward, Binh Thuy District. This house is located on prime land in line with the ancient Feng Shui concept: the great land between two rivers, facing Binh Thuy River to the east, Hau River to the north, Le Hong Phong Street to the south, and a residential square to the west. Built in the early 20th century, design was influenced by many popular architectural styles of the time. The front door of the house has an arch shape with patterns on its pillars stimulating a French aesthetic. Meanwhile, the roof is more similar to the architecture of Chinese pagodas or temples. The interior of the communal house is decorated with details that bring out its … [Read more...] about Two-century-old communal house in Can Tho
