Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s largest petroleum retailer Petrolimex has reported that earned almost 1.27 trillion VND (55 million USD) in pre-tax profit in 2020, equivalent to 81 percent of this year’s target and down nearly 76 percent from 2019. Under the double impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the plunge in oil prices in 2020, Petrolimex failed to hit its profit target for the year and recorded the company’s lowest annual profit figure since 2015. Total consolidated revenue was estimated at 123 trillion VND, surpassing the whole-year goal by 1 percent, but the achievement was 35 percent lower than the 2019 revenue. The company contributed 38.5 trillion VND to the State budget in 2020. In 2021, the group will implement its divestment plan and reduce the State's ownership. Two imported COVID-19 cases, 22 recoveries reported
Hanoi (VNA) – Two imported cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the past 24 hours to 6pm on January 18, raising the national count to 1,539, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control. The two new cases are a 28-year-old Vietnamese man returning from the US, and a 59-year-old Costa Rican expert who arrived in Vietnam from Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). They tested positive for the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 while being quarantined after arriving in Vietnam Also on January 18, 22 patients were given the all-clear, raising the number of recovered patients to 1,402. Two more imported Covid-19 patients recorded on Monday
According to the ministry's report, the Vietnamese patient is a 28-year-old man who returned from the US to Danang International Airport on January 13. He was sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on January 17. The patient is now being treated at the Danang Lung Hospital. Earlier, three other people who boarded the same flight with him had also been infected with the virus. The 59-year-old Costa Rican man arrived at the Noi Bai International Airport from the UAE on January 16. He is now being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases. With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 845. As of 6 pm on January 18, a total of 1,402 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. Businesses join efforts in assisting people affected by pandemic, natural disasters
HCM City (VNA) – Up to 4,200 workers affected by COVID-19 will receive support from a programme jointly launched by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Sai Gon Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Corporation (Sabeco) and local authorities. With total funding of more than 4.2 billion VND (181,300 USD), the programme will come to 28 cities and provinces nationwide from now to the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival, the corporation said on January 18. Earlier, under the programme, 1 billion VND was presented to central localities hit by floods and storms. Bennett Neo, Sabeco General Director, said the programme aims to help workers overcome difficulties and enjoy a happy Tet festival with their families. Northern region faces continued cold weather
Hanoi (VNA) - The National Centre for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecast has reported that the temperature in the northern region will continue to decrease deeply over the coming days. Rain and cold air hit the northern region on January 18 with the lowest temperature of 8-10 degrees Celsius and 4-7 degrees Celsius in mountain areas. The lowest temperature was recorded early January 18 in Sa Pa, Lao Cai province, was 7 degrees Celsius and 9.2 degrees in Mau Son, Lang Sơn province, a slight increase from the previous day. Some other mountainous areas also experienced very low temperatures including Pha Din (Dien Bien) with 9.4 degrees Celsius, Tam Dao (Vinh Phuc) 12 degrees and Dong Van (Ha Giang) 7.3 degrees.
