HCM City (VNA) – The Asia Food and Beverage Summit and related activities will be held on March 5, 2020 to welcome Vietnam’s ASEAN chairmanship, according to the Vietnam Cuisine Culture Association (VCCA) and the Restaurant Association of Vietnam (RAV). The event will focus on major issues in the food and beverage (F&B) sector, including development trends, effective business models, the standardisation and development of the chain, and the application of technology in the sector. Within the event’ framework, an international exhibition will be held with the participation of more than 30 R&B suppliers from across Asia, a business connection event and a ceremony honouring excellent restaurants. India tipped to import Viet Nam rice
Business Beat (16-11-2009) India tipped to import Viet Nam rice by Le Hung Vong Viet Nam will be able to meet India’s reported intention to import 2 to 3 million tonnes of rice, the deputy chairman of the Viet Nam Food Association Nguyen Tho Tri has said. The statement was made after the Indian Press Trust reported on November 4 that the Government of India has a plan to import 2 million tonnes of rice from Viet Nam and Thailand because of India’s decreasing rice output due to the impact of drought and floods. Speaking in an interview with the Thoi Bao Kinh Te Sai Gon, Tri affirmed that Indian diplomats had informed him that the South Asian giant was looking to buy 3, not 2 million tonnes of rice, as previously reported. Breakthrough in RCEP negotiations on world’s largest free trade area
Market of 3.5 billion consumers RCEP, launched in 2012, includes the 10 ASEAN members, as well as China, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia and New Zealand. Vietnam’s Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh said the conclusion of negotiations marks a very important milestone in the country’s process of international economic integration in particular and of all countries participating in RCEP in general, given increasing trade protectionism around the globe. According to Tran Tuan Anh, RCEP, with a market of around 3.5 billion consumers and total gross domestic product (GDP) of approximately US$49 trillion that accounts for about 39 percent of global GDP, will form the largest free trade area in the world. International Food Festival makes a splash in Hanoi
