I am 62 and a Marine Corps veteran. I have been a Christian Conservative Republican since 1974, when I became eligible to vote, and have always voted a straight Republican ticket, including recent elections. There is one exception: the 2016 presidential election where I wrote in a Conservative Candidate other than President Donald Trump. We Republicans as a whole have failed to acknowledge the president did not get a mandate from the American People. He was elected by the Electoral College and lost the popular vote by millions of votes. For the President to say the American people voted for the wall is not true, the majority of the American people voted against him and his policies. To demonize the Democrats for voting for what their constituents wanted is hypocritical, when that is exactly what he is doing. Last I heard he is the President of every U.S. citizen and should respect their opinions whether Democrat or Republican. The President should also be held accountable for his refusal to try to unite the country instead of increasing the divide.
