UPS Vietnam employees provide more than 2,000 volunteer hours By Le Hoang UPS employees join a charitable program at Tu An Pagoda – PHOTO: COURTESY OF UPS HCMC – United Parcel Service (UPS) employees in Vietnam in October completed more than 2,000 volunteer hours for a range of environmental and humanitarian causes across the country, as part of the company’s Global Volunteer Month. The program, which is now in its 16th year, is spearheaded by The UPS Foundation — the global philanthropic and corporate citizenship arm of UPS. This year, UPS employees in Vietnam took part in a number of initiatives, including helping clear roads affected by landslides resulting from flooding in Yen Bai Province, assisting farmers in Bac Kan’s Thanh Van community to harvest crops, donating 1,399 motorcycle helmets and raising road safety awareness for primary school students in Hanoi, providing care for over 150 orphaned children at Tu An Pagoda in HCMC, and building a house to be used for charitable purposes in Ben Tre Province. In addition, The UPS Foundation donated US$97,000 to three charities across the country that focus on child welfare, education, and environmental causes. UPS has committed to volunteer 20 million community service hours by the end of 2020, and has reached more than 70% of its goal to date.
