VN-Malaysia strategic ties advance remarkably, officials say

Photo: VGP The two countries established diplomatic relations in on March 30, 1973 and lifted up the bilateral ties to strategic partnership on August 8, 2015. The two Deputy PMs pledged to increase the exchange of delegations at all levels and all channels and continue effective operation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms. Both sides vowed to raise the two-way trade volume to at least US$ 15 billion by 2020 through enhancing Government-business dialogue and facilitating business-to-business partnership, especially in such areas like digital economy, renewable energy, high-tech agriculture and infrastructure development among others. The pair also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in culture, tourism, maritime cooperation and develop a mechanism on sea-related issue consultation. Deputy PM Wan Azizah affirmed the Government of Malaysia will continue creating favorable for Vietnamese to work and live in Malaysia. The two officials also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern. They agreed that the two countries should maintain consultations on security and strategic matters in the region, foster coordination in building a united ASEAN Community, enhancing ASEAN centrality in the regional architecture, and promoting the bloc’s role in addressing strategic matters in the region.
