Japanese film festival to be held in major cities The Saigon Times Daily The Japanese film festival will open in HCMC on November 2 with the screening of the 2017 drama film “Close-Knit” – PHOTO: COURTESY OF THE ORGANIZER HCMC – The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange will hold the Japanese film festival in HCMC, Hue, Hanoi and Danang from November 2 to December 23. Sixteen Japanese films of different genres like drama, comedy, fantasy, mystery, documentary and animation will be screened with Vietnamese and English subtitles throughout the festival. The 2017 drama film “Close-Knit”, directed by Naoko Ogigami, will open the festival in HCMC on November 2. Some other films that will be introduced to the Vietnamese audience include “Perfect World”, “The Scythian Lambs”, “Tora-san of Goto Island”, “Yakiniku Dragon”, “Laughing Under the Clouds”, “Chihayafuru”, and “Mary and The Witch’s Flower”. They focus on themes of love, friendship, family and Japanese culture. The film screenings will take place at CineStar Cinema Hai Ba Trung in HCMC, Le Do Cinema in Danang, BHD Star Cinema in Hue, and the National Cinema Center in Hanoi. Tickets are VND30,000 – 40,000.
