Bright prospects for local movie industry at Cannes Film Festival The Saigon Times Daily The Vietnamese film industry made its first public presence at the 70th Cannes Film Festival in France from May 17-28, Vietnamplus reports. During the festival, Vietnam has carried out numerous activities at its booth to introduce film projects and local cinema industry to international guests apart from promoting the country’s tourism images. Themed “Vietnam, the new destination for blockbusters”, the country’s booth showcases brochures featuring new and highly-valued films and promising independent film projects selected in various fields of this film festival. International guests to the Vietnamese booth can see the images of the country’s beautiful natural landscapes such as the Trang An eco-tourism complex in Ninh Binh Province, Halong Bay in Quang Ninh Province, and Son Doong Cave in Quang Binh Province. VietnamPlus quotes Ngo Phuong Lan, director of the Vietnam Cinema Department, as saying at the Cannes film festival that the presence of Vietnam at the 70th international film festival proves stringent efforts of the local film industry to take a further step into the world movie industry and promote the country and people to international friends. The Vietnam Cinema Department in partnership with film studios last Saturday organized the Vietnam Night event to introduce local movie industry and prospective film projects along with film producers, directors and actors to international visitors.
