(Cinet) – Overcoming some candidates such as Huynh Kesley, Trong Hoang, etc, a national team midfielder Pham Thanh Luong and goalkeeper Dang Thi Kieu Trinh won Golden Ball awards for outstanding contributions to national men’s and women’s football in 2011. On the evening of May 10, the honouring ceremony of Vietnames Golden Ball 2011 organized by SGGP Newspaper took place in HCM City theatre. Song Lam Nghe An’s midfielder Nguyen Trong Hoang was placed second while Saigon FC’s naturalised striker Huynh Kesley came third. On the meanwhile, Le Thi Thuong from Khoang San won the Silver Ball while winger Nguyen Thi Muon from Hanoi grabbed the Bronze Ball in the women’s category. Sharing his feelings, Thanh Luong said that he honours to get the prize and promises to develop his ability. The Junior Footballer prize went to midfielder Nguyen Van Quyet from Hanoi T&T and the Foreign Player of the Year was awarded to prolific forward Gaston Merlo from SHB Danang. The first Golden Ball was won by former striker Le Huynh Duc in 1995 when he played for the former Ho Chi Minh City Police team.
