December 1, 2009 by robert Leave a Comment

Traditional cuisines of Thang Long – Hanoi capital will be introduced at the Van Thanh tourist site in HCM City from December 3-13. Northern girls wearing traditional ao tu than (four-panel dress) and khan mo qua (kerchief) will sell traditional cuisines of Hanoians at the “Thang Long culinary art in the heart of the southern region” festival in Van Thanh tourist site.   The event is held by the HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Binh Quoi tourism village and the Southern Institute for Culinary Research to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi.   The festival will take place in a miniatured space of ancient Hanoi. Besides specialities of Hanoi, there will have folk art shows like water puppetry and performances of traditional music like A dao, quan ho, hat xam, hat xoan and ca tru. Folk games like playing to tom, tam cuc (Chinese cards), nem cau, leo cot mo (climbing on slippery pillars), wrestling will be held.   The organizers will also open a painting exhibition of old Hanoi.   “We hope that this programme will introduce Hanoi’s culinary art to local and foreign visitors, contribute to stimulate tourism and become an annual event in HCM City,” said Huynh Van Son from the HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.   Source: Vnn
